HP Dual Band WL AC 8260NGW

The HP Dual Band WL AC 8260NGW is a new M.2 Wi-Fi adapter designed for laptops or desktops with a compatible M.2 slot. It adds wireless networking and Bluetooth capability in a single compact module. This part suits technicians upgrading or repairing systems that lack built-in wireless support.

M.2 slot integration

Installation requires an available M.2 keyed slot wired for CNVi or PCIe and USB signalling. The adapter occupies one M.2 position, freeing USB ports that a dongle would otherwise consume. Antenna cables must be routed to the module for proper radio performance.

Replaces missing or failed wireless

This adapter replaces a missing factory wireless card or a failed 8260NGW module in HP platforms. The jump is worth it when the original card is dead or the chassis never shipped with Wi-Fi. It does not suit builders who need a newer Wi-Fi standard or a different M.2 keying.

Questions about this item

Does the M.2 2230 key-E slot limit fitment in thinner laptops?

The adapter uses the M.2 2230 form factor with key-E notch, so it fits only slots wired for that exact size and keying.

How warm does the 8260NGW module get during continuous throughput?

Under sustained load the module runs warm but stays within its rated thermal envelope; a laptop chassis with adequate airflow keeps it stable.

Which antenna cables must the system already provide?

The board exposes two U.FL connectors, so the host must supply dual-band antenna pigtails routed to the M.2 slot.
