HP EliteBook 840 G3 business laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0 inch business laptop designed for professionals who need a reliable Windows 10 machine for office applications and video calls. It ships new with a 500GB SSD and 8GB of DDR3 memory already installed.

Dual-core i7-6500U processor

The Intel Core i7-6500U runs at 2.50 GHz with a turbo frequency of 3.10 GHz and integrates Intel HD Graphics 520. This dual-core processor determines whether the system can handle your workload without a discrete graphics card.

Two memory slots support 32 GB maximum

The laptop provides two memory slots and supports up to 32 GB of DDR3 RAM, allowing a future upgrade from the included 8 GB. The 2.5 inch SATA SSD bay frees an M.2 slot for additional storage if the board provides one.

Questions about this item

How does the 2.5 GHz base clock and 3.10 GHz turbo affect everyday workloads?

The dual-core i7-6500U runs at 2.5 GHz and can boost to 3.10 GHz, so office apps, web browsing and light multitasking stay responsive while the lower base clock keeps heat and fan noise down in the thin 14.0" chassis.

What does the SATA interface mean for the 500GB SSD?

The 500GB drive connects over SATA, so sequential reads and writes top out at the SATA link speed rather than a faster protocol, but it still boots Windows 10 Home 64-bit and launches apps far quicker than a mechanical disk.

Can I add more memory later and what does the chassis allow?

The laptop has two DDR3 slots and supports up to 32 GB total, so you can add a second module or replace both sticks without opening anything beyond the standard service hatch.
