Business laptop with i7-6500U

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0 inch HD laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-6500U dual-core processor running at 2.50 GHz with turbo up to 3.10 GHz. It comes with 8GB of DDR3 memory and a new 240GB SATA SSD. Windows 10 Home 64-bit is pre-installed.

Best for office work and mobility

This configuration suits professionals who need a reliable machine for documents, email and web browsing on the move. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 handles basic video playback and multi-monitor desk setups. Buyers who need a touchscreen, a higher resolution panel or a dedicated graphics card for creative workloads should consider other options.

240GB SATA SSD storage limit

The system includes a single 240GB 2.5 inch SATA solid-state drive with no additional hard drive fitted. Two memory slots support up to 32 GB of DDR3 RAM for future upgrades. Users requiring more than 240GB of internal storage without external drives will find the capacity restrictive.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the Intel Core i7-6500U reaches its 3.10 GHz turbo frequency after setup?

Open Task Manager, select the Performance tab and watch the CPU clock speed rise toward 3.10 GHz when a heavy load is applied.

Which accessories are included and which must be purchased separately for the EliteBook 840 G3?

The laptop, its power adapter and a pre-installed Windows 10 Home 64-bit licence are included; external mice, carrying cases or docking stations are sold separately.

Should I choose the 8 GB DDR3 configuration or plan an upgrade to the 32 GB maximum supported?

The 8 GB fitted is adequate for office work and light multitasking; add a second DDR3 module later only if you regularly hit the memory ceiling.
