Business laptop for mobile professionals

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0-inch notebook powered by an Intel Core i7-6500U dual-core processor with a turbo frequency of 3.10 GHz. It comes with 8GB of DDR3 memory and a new 240GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD. The HD display offers a 1366 x 768 resolution. No operating system is installed.

Expandable memory and storage foundation

Two memory slots support up to 32 GB of total DDR3 RAM for future upgrades. The M.2 NVMe SSD provides fast boot and application load times while leaving the 2.5-inch bay available for an additional drive. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 handles daily productivity and video playback without a discrete card.

Sustained performance within a thin chassis

The ultra-low-voltage i7-6500U maintains its 2.50 GHz base clock during extended workloads thanks to the EliteBook thermal design. Turbo boost to 3.10 GHz activates for short bursts when thermal headroom allows. Fan noise remains moderate under continuous office tasks such as document editing and web browsing.

Questions about this item

Does the i7-6500U throttle quickly when all cores run at 3.10 GHz?

The dual-core processor reaches 3.10 GHz turbo under load; sustained clocks depend on the cooling system built into this 14.0" chassis.

How loud does the fan get during an all-day workload?

Fan noise varies with CPU temperature; the Intel HD Graphics 520 and i7-6500U share the same thermal solution inside the silver EliteBook 840 G3 body.

The listing says no operating system — what licence must I supply?

The unit ships with no OS installed; you provide and install any compatible Windows or Linux licence yourself.
