Business-ready laptop without an OS

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0-inch Full HD notebook built for professionals who prefer to install their own operating system. It ships with an Intel Core i5-6200U dual-core processor running at 2.30 GHz with a 2.80 GHz turbo frequency. The 8 GB of DDR3 memory and a new 500 GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD provide a responsive platform for office workloads.

Integrated graphics and memory ceiling

Intel HD Graphics 520 handles the 1920 x 1080 non-touch display without a discrete GPU, keeping power draw low for mobile use. The two memory slots support a maximum of 32 GB, allowing a future upgrade if 8 GB becomes a bottleneck for heavier multitasking or virtual machines.

No operating system included

This unit leaves the factory with no OS installed, so the buyer must supply and configure Windows, Linux or another platform before the laptop is usable. It is therefore unsuitable for anyone who needs a machine that works straight out of the box.

Questions about this item

Can I replace the 500 GB NVMe drive with a larger one later?

Yes, the M.2 slot accepts standard NVMe SSDs, so you can swap in a higher-capacity drive when you need more space.

What limits performance first during long workloads — the dual-core i5-6200U or the 8 GB DDR3?

The dual-core i5-6200U reaches its ceiling before the 8 GB DDR3 becomes a bottleneck in sustained multi-threaded tasks.

How loud and hot does the EliteBook 840 G3 get when it runs all day?

The slim chassis and integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 keep fan noise moderate and surface temperatures warm but not uncomfortable during extended use.
