HP EliteBook 840 G3 14" FHD i7-6500U 16GB 2TB NVMe

This HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0 inch FHD business laptop driven by an Intel Core i7-6500U dual-core processor at 2.50 GHz with 3.10 GHz turbo. It carries 16GB DDR3 memory and a new 2TB NVMe SSD. No operating system is installed.

Who this suits and who it does not

Buyers wanting a portable 14.0 inch FHD notebook with 16GB RAM and a large NVMe drive for a clean OS install will find it suitable. Users needing more than 32GB memory, a touchscreen, or a dedicated GPU should look elsewhere.

Specification that decides fit

The 2TB NVMe SSD is the decisive specification; it sets the storage ceiling and determines whether the laptop can hold the required applications and data without an additional drive.

Questions about this item

How loud does the fan get when the Intel Core i7-6500U runs at 3.10 GHz for hours?

The dual-core processor reaches 3.10 GHz turbo; fan noise will rise under sustained load but the 14.0 inch chassis has no published acoustic rating.

What must I supply to boot the laptop since it ships with no operating system?

You need a Windows or Linux installation USB and a valid licence key; the 2 TB NVMe SSD is blank and ready for a fresh install.

Will my existing DDR3 SODIMMs work if I want to expand the 16 GB up to the 32 GB maximum?

The two memory slots accept DDR3 modules; matching speed and voltage with the installed 16 GB ensures stable operation up to the 32 GB limit.
