Ready-to-use business laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0 inch FHD laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-6600U processor running at 2.60 GHz with a 3.40 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 16GB of DDR3 memory and a new 128GB 2.5 inch SATA SSD. No operating system is installed so the buyer must provide their own Windows or alternative OS licence.

Simple memory and storage access

The laptop uses two memory slots supporting up to 32 GB total capacity making RAM upgrades straightforward with standard DDR3 modules. The 2.5 inch SATA SSD bay is also easily accessible for storage expansion. The only common issue is forgetting that no operating system is preloaded which requires a separate installation step before the device becomes usable.

Verify OS and peripheral needs

Confirm you have a valid Windows licence or preferred Linux distribution ready for installation on the blank drive. Check that your existing docking station or port replicator matches the available ports on this 840 G3 chassis. Ensure any required legacy accessories such as VGA or Ethernet adapters are compatible with the provided connections.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the Intel Core i7-6600U is running at its 3.40 GHz turbo frequency after setup?

Open Task Manager in Windows or use a hardware monitoring tool to watch the CPU clock speed under load; the processor should reach 3.40 GHz when thermal headroom allows.

What comes in the box and what must I buy separately?

The laptop includes 16GB DDR3 memory and a NEW 128GB 2.5" SATA SSD installed; you must purchase and install an operating system yourself as none is supplied.

Should I choose the 16GB DDR3 configuration or plan to upgrade to the 32 GB maximum?

The unit already has 16GB DDR3 fitted across two slots; if your workloads need more than 16GB, you will need to replace both modules to reach the 32 GB limit.
