14-inch FHD business laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0-inch full-HD laptop built around a dual-core Intel Core i7-6600U processor that reaches 3.40 GHz on turbo. It ships with 16GB of DDR3 memory and a new 240GB 2.5-inch SATA SSD. No operating system is installed, so the buyer provides their own licence and installation media.

Suited for clean-OS deployments

This unit suits IT teams or developers who want a lightweight 14-inch chassis and prefer to load a fresh Windows or Linux image themselves. Buyers who need a ready-to-use system with a pre-installed licence should look elsewhere, as should anyone requiring a touchscreen or discrete graphics.

240GB SATA SSD capacity

The single specification that decides fit is the 240GB 2.5-inch SATA SSD. It determines how much local data the machine can hold before an additional drive or cloud storage is required.

Questions about this item

Which storage capacity should I pick for this EliteBook 840 G3?

This unit ships with a single 240GB SATA SSD; there is no alternative capacity listed for this configuration.

What does the 3.40 GHz turbo frequency deliver in everyday use?

The dual-core i7-6600U can boost to 3.40 GHz for short bursts, speeding up single-threaded tasks such as web browsing or document editing.

How does the SATA interface affect the 240GB SSD performance?

The 2.5" SATA connection limits the drive to SATA transfer rates, so sequential speeds stay within the SATA bandwidth ceiling.
