Business laptop without OS

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0 inch FHD notebook powered by a dual-core Intel Core i7-6600U processor running at 2.60 GHz with a 3.40 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 16GB of DDR3 memory and a new 500GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD. No operating system is installed, so the buyer must provide their own licence and media.

Suited for clean installs not legacy apps

This unit suits IT teams or developers who want a verified hardware baseline for a fresh Windows or Linux deployment without paying for a pre-loaded licence. Buyers who need a ready-to-run environment with an activated OS, or who require a touchscreen or discrete graphics, should look at a different configuration.

Memory ceiling is 32 GB

The board provides two DDR3 slots and supports a maximum of 32 GB, so the installed 16 GB can be doubled if workloads demand more headroom. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 drives the 1920 x 1080 panel, and storage is limited to the single 500 GB NVMe drive with no secondary bay.

Questions about this item

How does the 3.40 GHz turbo speed of the Core i7-6600U affect everyday performance?

The dual-core processor reaches 3.40 GHz on short bursts, keeping office apps and web browsing responsive while the 16 GB DDR3 handles multiple tabs.

What does the M.2 NVMe PCIe interface mean for the 500 GB SSD?

The drive uses the PCIe lanes of the M.2 slot, so large files and boot sequences load at NVMe speeds rather than slower alternatives.

Can the 14.0 inch chassis accept a second memory module to reach the 32 GB maximum?

Yes, the board has two DDR3 slots and one is free, allowing an additional stick to double the 16 GB already installed.
