HP EliteBook 840 G3 14" FHD laptop

This 14.0 inch FHD laptop runs on an Intel Core i7-6500U processor at 2.50 GHz with a turbo frequency of 3.10 GHz. It includes 16GB of DDR3 memory and a new 1TB SSD using a SATA interface. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed for immediate use.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

The dual-core processor and 16GB of RAM serve office productivity, web browsing and video conferencing well. The Intel HD Graphics 520 handles standard display output but is not suited for gaming or GPU-accelerated rendering. Buyers who need more storage than 1TB or a dedicated graphics engine should consider other options.

Deciding specification — 16GB DDR3 memory

The system ships with 16GB of DDR3 memory across two slots and supports up to 32GB total. This capacity determines whether the laptop can handle your multitasking workloads or if you require a platform with higher memory limits.

Questions about this item

How much power does the Intel Core i7-6500U draw under sustained load and does the cooling stay quiet?

The dual-core processor runs at a base frequency of 2.50 GHz and can reach 3.10 GHz on turbo; typical ultrabook coolers keep noise low during everyday workloads.

Which ports or peripherals do I need to connect an external monitor to the 14.0" FHD display output?

The integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 drives external screens through the laptop's native video outputs; check the side panels for HDMI, DisplayPort or VGA connectors.

Will my existing DDR3 SODIMM modules work alongside the installed 16GB memory if I upgrade toward the 32 GB maximum?

The system uses DDR3 memory across two slots, so compatible DDR3 SODIMMs can be added to reach the 32 GB limit.
