Business-ready 14 inch laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0 inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-6300U dual-core processor at 2.40 GHz with 8 GB DDR4 memory and a 512 GB SATA M.2 SSD. It runs Windows 10 Home on a 1920 x 1080 FHD LED display with Intel HD Graphics 520. Connectivity includes USB 3.0, USB 3.1 Type C, Gigabit Ethernet, VGA, DisplayPort and a SIM card reader.

Suits mobile professionals needing legacy ports

This configuration fits users who require a full-size VGA output, DisplayPort and wired Gigabit Ethernet alongside a modern USB Type C port for docking or peripherals. The SIM card reader supports mobile broadband on the go. Buyers who need a touchscreen, discrete graphics or a higher core count processor should look elsewhere. The Grade B LCD may show worn keys, touchpad wear or minor scratches.

512 GB SSD and 8 GB RAM for office workloads

The 512 GB solid-state drive provides fast boot and application loading for typical business documents, web apps and light multitasking. Shared system memory for the integrated GPU reduces available RAM during video playback or external display use. Heavy creative suites, virtualisation or large local datasets will exceed the dual-core CPU and 8 GB capacity.

Questions about this item

What existing power source must I have to run the 840 G3?

The laptop ships with its own charger and battery, so no separate power accessory is required.

Will my older VGA monitor work with the DisplayPort and VGA ports on this unit?

Yes, the full-size DisplayPort and VGA port both support external displays, so a legacy VGA monitor can be connected directly.

How can I verify the 512 GB M.2 SATA SSD is recognised after first boot?

Open File Explorer and confirm the C: drive shows roughly 512 GB capacity, then check Device Manager under Disk drives for the M.2 SATA model.
