Connectivity and expansion in a compact frame

One USB 3.1 Type C port joins two USB 3.0 ports, full size DisplayPort and VGA for external displays. Gigabit RJ 45 Ethernet and 802.11 wireless keep you online. A SIM card reader adds mobile broadband flexibility. The 128 GB SATA M.2 SSD stores the OS and core apps.

Cool quiet operation for desk or lap

Questions about this item

What thermal limit does the Intel Core i5-6300U hit first during sustained workloads?

The dual-core 2.4 GHz Skylake processor shares system memory with Intel HD Graphics 520 and will throttle when its thermal ceiling is reached under continuous multi-threaded load.

How loud and hot does the laptop get when running all day?

The 14.0 inch FHD LED panel and integrated graphics draw modest power, so the cooling fan remains quiet during typical office tasks but becomes audible under sustained heavy use.

Which dock or charger must I already own to power and connect this EliteBook 840 G3?

The unit includes its original charger; for desk docking you need a compatible HP USB-C or proprietary docking station that matches the USB 3.1 Type-C, DisplayPort and VGA ports.
