Compact business laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0 inch laptop built for mobile professionals who need a reliable daily driver. It runs on an Intel Core i5-6300U dual-core processor with a base clock of 2.40 GHz and a turbo frequency of 3.00 GHz. The system ships without an operating system so the buyer can install their preferred environment.

32 GB DDR3 and 1 TB NVMe

Memory is maxed out at 32 GB DDR3 across two slots, giving comfortable headroom for multitasking with many browser tabs and office applications. The 1 TB NVMe solid-state drive provides fast boot times and ample space for local files. Buyers who want more storage or memory beyond the supported maximum will need a different platform.

Integrated graphics thermals

The Intel HD Graphics 520 handles the 1366 x 768 HD display and light media tasks without a discrete GPU. Under typical office workloads the cooling system keeps the chassis quiet and surface temperatures moderate. Sustained heavy compute will push the dual-core CPU to its thermal limits faster than a higher-wattage part.

Questions about this item

Will the 14.0" HD screen and Intel HD Graphics 520 work with my older VGA projector?

The laptop has a VGA port, so the 1366 x 768 display and Intel HD Graphics 520 can drive a VGA projector directly without an adapter.

How can I verify the 32GB DDR3 and 1TB NVMe SSD are recognised after I install my OS?

Open Task Manager or BIOS; you should see 32 GB of memory across two slots and a 1 TB NVMe PCIe drive listed as the boot device.

Does the box include a power adapter and does Windows come pre-installed?

The unit ships with an AC adapter; no operating system is included, so you must supply and install Windows or another OS yourself.
