Business ultrabook for mobile professionals

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0-inch HD laptop built around an Intel Core i7-6500U dual-core processor running at 2.50 GHz with a 3.10 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 16GB of DDR3 memory and a new 240GB M.2 NVMe PCIe solid-state drive. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed, making it ready for managed corporate environments.

Step up from older dual-core HDDs or 8GB RAM

Replacing a mechanical-drive system or a machine limited to 8GB of memory removes the bottlenecks that slow multitasking and boot times. The NVMe SSD and 16GB of RAM deliver responsive application switching and fast file access for typical office workloads. The jump is worthwhile when your current device stalls on large spreadsheets or multiple browser tabs.

Fits thin-and-light bags with room to grow

The 14.0-inch non-touch chassis slides into compact briefcases while leaving both memory slots accessible for a future upgrade to 32GB. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 handles external displays through the built-in video outputs without a discrete GPU. Bluetooth and the integrated webcam support wireless peripherals and video calls without extra dongles.

Questions about this item

Does the EliteBook 840 G3 have a second memory slot for adding more DDR3 RAM?

Yes, the laptop has two memory slots in total and supports up to 32 GB of DDR3, so you can add a second module alongside the existing 16 GB.

What screw size secures the M.2 NVMe SSD so I don't strip it during installation?

The M.2 NVMe PCIe drive is held by a single M2x3 mm screw; use a precision Phillips #0 driver and stop when the drive sits flat to avoid over-tightening.

When should I plan to replace the 240 GB NVMe SSD in the EliteBook 840 G3?

Consumer NVMe drives typically last several years; monitor SMART health in Windows and consider replacement if reallocated sectors appear or write speeds drop noticeably.
