14-inch business laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0-inch laptop built for office and mobile professionals. It runs Windows 10 Pro on a dual-core Intel Core i7-6500U processor with a turbo frequency of 3.10 GHz. The system includes 32GB of DDR3 memory and a new 500GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 drives the 1366 x 768 HD non-touch display.

Suits single-screen workflows.

This configuration serves users who need a lightweight Windows 10 machine with generous memory for browser-heavy workloads, document editing and video calls. The HD panel and integrated graphics limit its appeal for colour-critical design, modern gaming or driving multiple external displays. Buyers who want a touchscreen, higher resolution or discrete graphics should look at something else.

Dual-core i7-6500U processor

The Intel Core i7-6500U operates at a base frequency of 2.50 GHz and can reach 3.10 GHz on turbo. As a dual-core part, it handles typical business applications and multitasking within the 32GB memory ceiling. Workloads that scale across many threads — such as video encoding, heavy compilation or virtualised server stacks — will run slower than on processors with more cores.

Questions about this item

Does the 14.0 inch chassis have a 2.5 inch drive bay for adding a second drive?

The 500GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD occupies the M.2 slot; no 2.5 inch bay is listed in the specifications.

What is the correct order for seating the two DDR3 modules so the laptop posts with 32GB?

Populate both memory slots with matching DDR3 sticks; the system supports a maximum of 32GB across the two slots.

When the 500GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD reaches its write endurance, what replacement form factor fits?

A standard M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD of the same keying will fit the existing slot for future storage upgrades.
