HP EliteBook 840 G3 laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0" FHD business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-6500U dual-core processor running at 2.50 GHz with a 3.10 GHz turbo. It includes 8GB DDR3 memory and a new 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD. Windows 10 Home 64-bit comes pre-installed.

Suitable for mobile professionals and students

This configuration suits office work, web browsing and video calls on a 1920 x 1080 non-touch display with Intel HD Graphics 520. Buyers who want more storage or a dedicated GPU for creative workloads should look elsewhere. Upgrading beyond 32 GB total memory is not supported.

1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD

The single specification that decides fit is the 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD. It provides fast boot and application loads while keeping the original drive bay free. Verify that your workflow fits within the 1TB capacity before purchasing.

Questions about this item

How much heat and fan noise should I expect from the Core i7-6500U when the EliteBook 840 G3 runs all day?

The dual-core Core i7-6500U has a base frequency of 2.50 GHz and a turbo of 3.10 GHz, so sustained workloads keep thermals moderate; the 14.0-inch chassis provides enough airflow for typical office use without loud fan spin.

What do I already need to start using this EliteBook 840 G3 right away?

Windows 10 Home 64-bit is pre-installed on the new 1TB M.2 NVMe drive, so only the included power adapter is required to boot and work immediately.

Can I keep my older DDR3 modules when upgrading the 8GB already installed in this EliteBook 840 G3?

The laptop has two memory slots supporting up to 32 GB of DDR3, so existing DDR3 SODIMMs can be added or swapped to reach the maximum capacity.
