A full-size DisplayPort and a VGA port drive external monitors without adapters, while the USB 3.1 Type-C connector supports modern peripherals and docking stations. Two USB 3.0 Type-A ports, Gigabit Ethernet and an 802.11 wireless radio cover legacy and current wired or wireless needs. A SIM-card slot is present for mobile broadband expansion.

Questions about this item

What USB standards are on the EliteBook 840 G3 and what speeds do they actually deliver?

Two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 3.1 Type-C port; 3.0 caps at 5 Gbps and 3.1 at 10 Gbps, though real throughput depends on the attached device and cable quality.

Which drive form factor fits the 840 G3 and how is it secured?

The laptop uses a single M.2 SATA SSD held by one screw; the slot is keyed for 2280 length so longer or shorter modules will not seat properly.

How is the operating system loaded on this unit and where do people stall?

Windows 10 Home x64 is pre-installed and activated; the common stall is skipping the initial OOBE network step, which prevents the digital licence from binding to the hardware.
