Business ultrabook with Skylake dual-core

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0-inch business laptop built around an Intel Core i5-6300U processor running at 2.4GHz with 3MB L3 cache. It ships with 8GB of DDR4 memory and a 128GB M.2 SATA SSD. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 drives the 1366 x 768 IPS panel with LED backlight. Windows 10 Home is pre-installed.

Ready to use with charger included

The unit arrives with a charger and battery installed so it boots straight to the desktop. Grade B condition means visible cosmetic blemishes such as scratches or surface marks are present. No optical drive is fitted. Ports include two USB 3.0, one USB 3.1 Type-C, full-size DisplayPort, VGA, Gigabit RJ-45 and a SIM card reader.

Display and storage limits for daily work

The 1366 x 768 resolution limits on-screen workspace compared to higher-density panels. The 128GB SATA SSD offers modest capacity for applications and local files; larger projects will need external or cloud storage. Integrated graphics share system memory and suit office tasks but not modern 3D workloads. Wi-Fi supports 802.11 b/g/n for basic wireless connectivity.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the Intel Core i5-6300U processor is running at its 2.4 GHz base speed after setup?

Open Task Manager, select the Performance tab, choose CPU and verify the base speed reads 2.4 GHz while the laptop is idle or under light load.

The listing mentions a charger and battery; do I need to buy a separate USB-C dock to use the DisplayPort and VGA outputs?

No, the laptop includes a full-size DisplayPort and a VGA port for direct monitor connection; a USB-C dock is only required if you want extra ports beyond those already built in.

With 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 128 GB SATA SSD, which configuration suits light office work versus heavier multitasking?

The installed 8 GB DDR4 and 128 GB SATA SSD handle light office tasks well; heavier multitasking would benefit from a memory upgrade and a larger drive, both of which are user-replaceable on this model.
