EliteBook 840 G3 with Core i7-6600U

This 14.0 inch HP laptop runs a dual-core Intel Core i7-6600U processor at 2.60 GHz with a 3.40 GHz turbo frequency. It comes equipped with 16GB of DDR3 memory and a new 240GB 2.5 inch SATA SSD. The system ships without an operating system installed.

Suitable for office workloads on a 1366 x 768 HD

The integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 handles typical business applications and video playback. Buyers who need a touchscreen display or a higher native resolution should consider other models. The two memory slots support a maximum of 32GB total capacity for future upgrades.

240GB SATA SSD defines storage speed and capacity

The solid-state drive uses a 2.5 inch SATA interface rather than a faster protocol. This determines both the sequential transfer ceiling and the 240GB space available for the operating system and files. Verify that this capacity meets your requirements before purchase.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the Core i7-6600U get when the EliteBook 840 G3 runs all day?

The dual-core i7-6600U has a base speed of 2.60 GHz and a turbo of 3.40 GHz with Intel HD Graphics 520, a combination designed for low heat in a thin 14.0" chassis.

What must I already own to use this laptop since it has no operating system?

You need a Windows licence or Linux installation media plus a USB drive to install the OS onto the 240 GB SATA SSD.

Will my existing DDR3 SODIMMs work if I want to expand the 16 GB memory to the 32 GB maximum?

The two slots accept DDR3 modules; the installed 16 GB leaves one slot free for an additional stick up to the 32 GB limit.
