Questions about this item

Will the dual-core i5-7300U hit its thermal limit during long compiles?

The 2.6 GHz dual-core processor with 3 MB cache shares cooling with the integrated Intel HD Graphics 620, so sustained loads will throttle once the chassis reaches its thermal ceiling.

How loud or hot does the EliteBook 840 G4 get when running all day?

Fan noise rises under continuous load as the shared heatsink handles both the CPU and Intel HD Graphics 620; surface temperatures climb around the keyboard deck and underside.

What cables or docks must I already own to use the video outputs?

The laptop provides one full-size DisplayPort and one VGA port, so a DisplayPort cable or a VGA cable is required for each external monitor you want to drive.
