Ready for business travel

The HP EliteBook 840 G4 is a 14.0 inch laptop built for professionals who need a reliable Windows 10 device on the move. Its Intel Core i5-7300U dual-core processor runs at 2.6 GHz with 3 MB cache, paired with 8 GB DDR4 memory and a 128 GB M.2 SATA SSD for responsive everyday performance.

Steady performance on long tasks

The integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 uses shared system memory, so the CPU and GPU draw from the same 8 GB pool during extended workloads. The 1366 x 768 LED display keeps pixel throughput modest, helping the dual-core chip sustain clocks without thermal throttling during typical office sessions.

Durable chassis with versatile ports

A silver finish covers a frame tested for business durability, while a full-size DisplayPort, VGA, Gigabit RJ-45 and USB 3.1 Type-C provide legacy and modern video or network connections without dongles. The built-in webcam and SIM card reader support mobile conferencing, though the 128 GB drive may limit users who store large media libraries locally.

Questions about this item

Does the Intel Core i5-7300U and its fan stay quiet and cool during all-day workloads?

The dual-core 2.6 GHz processor with 3 MB cache runs typical office tasks without spinning the fan loudly; sustained heavy loads will raise temperatures but the chassis is designed for business duty cycles.

What cables or docks must I already own to connect two external monitors?

The laptop provides one full-size DisplayPort and one VGA port, so you need a DisplayPort cable for one screen and either a VGA cable or a DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter for the second.

Will my older USB-A flash drives and Gigabit Ethernet cable work with the 840 G4?

Yes, two USB 3.0 Type-A ports and a 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ-45 jack accept legacy USB-A drives and standard Ethernet cables directly.
