Purpose-built Business Ultrabook

The EliteBook 840 G5 is a 14-inch Windows 11 Pro laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor running at 1.7 GHz with turbo up to 3.6 GHz. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 1920 x 1080 non-touch display. It targets professionals who need managed fleet deployment, BIOS-level protection and a silver aluminium chassis for daily office mobility.

Connectivity and Expansion Limits

The platform provides Intel dual-band wireless with Bluetooth 4.1 and wired Gigabit Ethernet for network access. Physical I/O includes two USB 3.0 Type-A ports and USB Type-C ports with DisplayPort output for external monitors. Internal storage uses a PCIe M.2 slot supporting SATA or NVME drives up to 1 TB; memory tops out at 32 GB DDR4 across two slots, currently populated with 8 GB in dual-channel configuration.

Upgrade Path and Fit

This unit replaces ageing dual-core ultrabooks or heavier 15-inch workstations where vPro manageability and Sure Start firmware guard were missing. The jump is worthwhile when IT requires hardware-enforced BIOS recovery and a 14-inch form factor that balances screen real estate with bag weight. Buyers needing discrete graphics, touchscreen input or screen sizes of 13.3 or 15.6 inches should look at alternative EliteBook models.
