HP EliteBook 840 G5 business laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G5 is a 14.0 inch business laptop running Windows 11 Pro. It uses an Intel Core i5-8350U processor at 1.70 GHz with 8 GB of memory and a 256 GB SSD. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 1920 x 1080 non-touch display. A webcam is included for video calls.

Suitable users and limits

This device suits office workers, students and mobile professionals who need a lightweight 14 inch machine for documents, web apps and video conferencing. The 8 GB memory and integrated graphics limit it for heavy creative suites, modern gaming titles or large dataset work. Buyers who need more storage or a discrete GPU should look at a different configuration.

Sustained workload behaviour

Under continuous load the UHD 620 graphics and dual-core processor will throttle to manage heat in the thin chassis. Expect stable performance for typical productivity tasks but reduced clock speeds during long renders, compiles or back-to-back meetings. The 256 GB SSD maintains consistent read and write speeds without thermal slowdown.
