Business laptop with quad-core Intel Core i5-8350U

The HP EliteBook 840 G5 is a 14.0 inch business laptop built around a quad-core Intel Core i5-8350U processor running at 1.70 GHz with 6 MB L3 cache. It ships with 16 GB DDR4 memory and a 256 GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD. The 1920 x 1080 FHD LED-backlit display is non-touch. Windows 10 Pro comes pre-installed. It suits professionals who need a compact, managed device for office applications and video calls.

Silver chassis with Thunderbolt 3 and Gigabit

The silver chassis provides two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, one USB Type-C Thunderbolt 3 port, HDMI output and a Gigabit RJ-45 jack. Wireless connectivity uses Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265. An integrated webcam supports conferencing. The Thunderbolt 3 connection allows a single-cable dock for power, data and external displays. Wired Ethernet gives reliable network access in office environments without relying on Wi-Fi.

Upgrade from dual-core ultrabooks

Moving from a dual-core ultrabook or a system with a traditional hard drive brings four cores, eight threads and NVMe storage for faster boot and application load times. The jump is worth it when daily work involves multitasking across browser tabs, office suites and virtual meetings. Buyers who want more storage or discrete graphics for heavy creative workloads should look elsewhere.
