Ready for business travel

The HP EliteBook 840 G5 is a 14 inch laptop built for mobile professionals who need reliable performance. It runs on an Intel Core i5-8350U processor with four cores and eight threads. The system includes 32 GB of DDR4 memory and a 1 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 solid-state drive. Windows 10 Pro comes pre-installed for immediate deployment.

Memory and storage headroom

The 32 GB DDR4 configuration handles heavy multitasking and large datasets without swapping to disk. The 1 TB NVMe drive provides fast boot times and ample space for applications and project files. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 uses shared system memory, so graphically intensive workloads will reduce available RAM for other tasks.

Connectivity for the desk and the road

A single USB Type-C Thunderbolt 3 port supports docking, external displays and high-speed peripherals. Two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, HDMI and Gigabit Ethernet cover legacy accessories and wired networks. The 14 inch 1920 x 1080 LED panel is non-touch, keeping weight down for frequent carry.

Questions about this item

Will the 1.7 GHz i5-8350U and 32 GB DDR4 handle my existing USB 3.1 Gen 1 peripherals without a hub?

The laptop has two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, so your current peripherals plug in directly.

How can I confirm the 1 TB NVMe SSD and Intel UHD Graphics 620 are recognised after first boot?

Open Device Manager — the SSD appears under Disk Drives and the graphics adapter shows as Intel UHD Graphics 620.

Does the box include a Thunderbolt 3 cable for external displays, or must I buy one separately?

The package contains the laptop, charger and battery only; a Thunderbolt 3 cable is not included.
