Business ultrabook with touch display

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480s is a 14.0 inch Full HD touchscreen laptop built for professionals who need a portable Windows 11 Pro machine. It runs on an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor at 1.90 GHz with 16 GB DDR4 RAM and a 1 TB SSD. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles the visual output.

Integrated graphics and memory ceiling

The UHD 620 graphics share system memory and suit office applications, video playback and light creative tasks but cannot drive demanding 3D workloads. Memory is limited to the installed 16 GB DDR4 with no upgrade path mentioned in the specifications. Wi-Fi 4 and Bluetooth 4.1 provide baseline wireless connectivity for typical office environments.

Fixed 16 GB RAM decides suitability

Buyers who need more than 16 GB of memory for virtual machines, large datasets or heavy multitasking should look elsewhere because the capacity cannot be increased. The 1 TB SSD offers ample space for most business users, while the touch-enabled IPS panel supports direct interaction for presentations and annotation workflows.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 1TB SSD or a smaller capacity like 256GB?

The 1TB SSD gives you four times the space of a 256GB drive, so you can keep large project files, media libraries and virtual machines locally without relying on external storage.

What does the i7-8650U's 4.20GHz boost clock mean for everyday work?

The quad-core processor can reach 4.20GHz on short bursts, letting you compile code, render spreadsheets or edit photos faster than at its 1.90GHz base speed, while integrated UHD 620 graphics handles display output.

What can the two USB Type-C ports actually do?

Each USB Type-C port supports Power Delivery for charging, DisplayPort video output and USB 3.1 Gen1 data transfer, so you can dock, power the laptop and drive an external monitor from one cable.
