Business laptop for mobile professionals

The HP EliteBook 840 G5 pairs a quad-core Intel Core i7-8650U processor running at 1.9 GHz with 8 GB DDR4 memory and a 512 GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed on the 14.0 inch 1920 x 1080 FHD display. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles everyday visual tasks. This configuration suits office productivity, video conferencing and light content creation on the move.

Charger and battery included

The box supplies the laptop, a charger and the internal battery so the system is ready to run without extra purchases. A single USB Type-C Thunderbolt 3 port adds high-speed data and video output alongside two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports. Gigabit RJ-45 Ethernet, HDMI and Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 provide wired and wireless connectivity options. The integrated webcam supports remote meetings out of the box.

Silver chassis with practical ports

The silver finish covers a 14.0 inch non-touch LED-backlit panel in a compact footprint. One Thunderbolt 3 port, two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, HDMI and Gigabit Ethernet give flexible docking and peripheral choices. The 15 W processor keeps thermals manageable in the slim frame. Buyers needing touchscreen input or discrete graphics should consider other models.

Questions about this item

Can the 8GB DDR4 memory be upgraded later?

The system ships with 8GB DDR4; the platform supports SODIMM expansion so additional capacity can be installed if required.

What limits sustained performance on the i7-8650U?

The 15W TDP and shared thermal envelope with Intel UHD 620 graphics cause clock throttling under prolonged heavy load.

How loud and hot does the EliteBook 840 G5 get during all-day use?

Typical office workloads keep fan noise low and chassis temperature warm but comfortable; sustained multi-core tasks raise both noticeably.
