EliteBook 840 G5 business laptop

The EliteBook 840 G5 is a 14.0" business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor with 32 GB DDR4 memory and a 256 GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD. It runs Windows 10 Pro and includes a 1920 x 1080 FHD non-touch display, Thunderbolt 3, HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet and a webcam. The silver chassis is built for mobile professionals who need a compact, managed device for office productivity and video conferencing.

Sustained workload behaviour

The i7-8650U operates at a 15 W base power with four cores and eight threads, allowing consistent performance during extended document editing, web sessions and light multitasking. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 shares system memory, so prolonged 3D or heavy video tasks will throttle to stay within the thermal envelope. The 256 GB NVMe SSD keeps boot and application load times low even after hours of continuous use.

Thermals, noise and power

The 15 W processor and integrated graphics generate modest heat, so the cooling fan runs quietly during typical office workloads and remains inaudible at idle. Power draw stays near the 15 W baseline for productivity tasks, rising only briefly under burst loads. The included charger replenishes the battery efficiently, and the aluminium chassis dissipates warmth without becoming uncomfortable on a desk or lap.
