HP EliteBook 840 G5 Business Laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G5 is a 14.0 inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor running at 1.70 GHz. It comes with 16 GB DDR4 memory and a 512 GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD. The 1920 x 1080 FHD display uses LED backlighting. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles visuals. It ships with Windows 10 Home and includes Thunderbolt 3 connectivity.

Suits mobile professionals needing a tested

This unit fits buyers who want a ready-to-use business laptop with a full HD screen, solid-state storage and modern USB-C Thunderbolt 3 for docks or monitors. It is not for users who require a brand-new condition device, as the supplier notes Grade B cosmetic blemishes such as scratches or shiny keys. Buyers needing discrete graphics, a touchscreen, or larger than 16 GB memory should look elsewhere.

16 GB DDR4 soldered memory decides upgrade path

The 16 GB DDR4 capacity is the key specification because it cannot be increased after purchase. If your workload demands more memory, this laptop will not meet that need. If 16 GB fits your current and near-term workflow, the fast NVMe SSD and quad-core processor provide a responsive experience for typical business applications.

Questions about this item

Will the USB-C Thunderbolt 3 port work with my older USB 3.0 dock?

The single USB-C Thunderbolt 3 port is backward compatible with USB 3.1 Gen 1 devices, so a USB 3.0 dock will connect and function at USB 3.0 speeds.

How can I verify the Intel UHD Graphics 620 is active after installing Windows 11 Pro?

Open Device Manager, expand Display adapters, and confirm Intel UHD Graphics 620 appears without a warning icon; the driver version shown confirms the GPU is operating correctly.

Does the box contain an HDMI cable for the 1920 x 1080 output?

The package includes the laptop, charger and battery only; an HDMI cable for the full-HD port must be purchased separately.
