14-inch business laptop with 32 GB DDR4

The HP EliteBook 840 G6 is a 14-inch notebook built for professionals who need a portable Windows 11 Pro machine with generous memory. A quad-core Intel Core i7-8665U running at 1.9 GHz provides four cores and eight threads for office workloads and multitasking. The 1920 x 1080 non-touch display uses LED backlighting. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics shares system memory.

32 GB DDR4 and 1 TB NVMe headroom

Thirty-two gigabytes of DDR4 memory gives ample headroom for heavy browser tabs, virtual machines and large spreadsheets without paging. The 1 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD supplies fast boot and application launch speeds while storing a full project library. When workloads demand sustained high GPU compute or discrete graphics acceleration, the shared-memory UHD solution reaches its limit.

Thunderbolt 3 USB-C single-cable docking

One Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port carries video, data and power delivery through a single cable, letting you connect docks, external displays and peripherals without a proprietary connector. Two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports remain for legacy devices. Gigabit Ethernet and Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 handle wired and wireless networking. If your workflow requires multiple Thunderbolt controllers or a dedicated GPU enclosure, this chassis provides only the single port.

Questions about this item

Will my older USB-A peripherals work with the two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports on this EliteBook 840 G6?

Yes, the two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports are fully backward-compatible with older USB 2.0 and 3.0 devices, so existing mice, keyboards, drives and hubs will work without adapters.

How can I verify the Intel Core i7-8665U is running at its 1.9 GHz base speed after setup?

Open Task Manager, select the Performance tab and choose CPU; the Base speed line should read 1.90 GHz and the Utilization graph will show all four cores active under load.

Does the box contain a Thunderbolt 3 cable or dock, or must I buy those separately?

The shipment includes the laptop, its charger and the installed battery only; any Thunderbolt 3 cable, dock or peripheral is a separate purchase.
