14-inch business laptop with quad-core i7

The HP EliteBook 840 G6 is a 14.0-inch notebook built around an Intel Core i7-8665U quad-core processor running at 1.9 GHz. It ships with 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 128 GB SSD. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed, making it ready for professional environments that need a compact, managed device.

Charger and battery included for immediate

The box contains the laptop, its charger and the internal battery so the system can be powered up without sourcing extra parts. A 720p webcam is integrated above the FHD panel for video calls. One Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port, two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, HDMI and gigabit Ethernet provide wired and dock connectivity.

Thunderbolt 3 caps external GPU bandwidth at 40 Gbps

The single Thunderbolt 3 interface limits external graphics enclosures to four lanes of PCIe 3.0, so high-end desktop cards cannot run at full speed. Internal graphics rely on Intel UHD Graphics sharing system memory, which restricts 3D workloads. The 128 GB drive leaves little room for large local datasets or multiple virtual machines.

Questions about this item

Will the 128 GB SSD need replacing if I add more files?

The 128 GB SSD is the only internal drive; if you need more space you can add an external drive via the USB 3.1 Gen 1 or Thunderbolt 3 ports.

What limits performance first when the Core i7-8665U runs at full load for a long time?

The 15 W processor power limit is reached before the quad-core chip can sustain its highest turbo speeds.

How loud and hot does the 14 inch FHD laptop get during an all-day workload?

The 15 W quad-core CPU and shared Intel UHD Graphics keep heat and fan noise moderate for typical office tasks.
