Business laptop with Thunderbolt 3

The HP EliteBook 840 G6 is a 14.0 inch notebook built around an Intel Core i7-8665U processor running at 1.9 GHz with four cores and eight threads. It ships with 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 1 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 solid-state drive. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed. The non-touch display delivers 1920 x 1080 resolution on an LED backlit panel. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics uses shared system memory for visual output.

Check ports and power before ordering

Verify that your existing docks or monitors accept the single Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port and the standard HDMI output for external displays. Two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports handle legacy peripherals. Gigabit Ethernet is provided via an RJ-45 jack. The 15 W processor profile means the included charger is sized for this specific power envelope; confirm the adapter tip matches the unit you receive.

Sustained workload thermal behaviour

The quad-core 15 W chip can maintain elevated frequencies while the cooling system manages heat across the slim chassis. During long compile sessions or continuous video playback the fan will ramp to keep temperatures in check, which is audible in a quiet room. Shared graphics memory limits extended 3D or heavy compute tasks compared to discrete solutions. Battery life under constant load will fall well short of idle estimates.
