Business laptop for office work

The HP EliteBook 840 G7 is a 14-inch business laptop built around a 10th Generation Intel Core i5-10310U quad-core processor with eight threads. It comes with 16GB of DDR4 memory and a 256GB NVMe solid-state drive running Windows 11 Pro. The configuration targets professionals who need reliable performance for spreadsheets, document processing, web-based systems, presentations and video meetings without discrete graphics requirements.

Thermals noise and power in daily use

Integrated Intel UHD Graphics keeps the thermal load modest during typical office applications and video calls. The four-core processor handles sustained multitasking without demanding high fan speeds for spreadsheet work or browser-heavy workflows. Power draw remains consistent with ultrabook-class efficiency for all-day productivity away from a desk charger.

Build quality and daily connectivity

The silver chassis houses a 14.0-inch IPS display at 1920 x 1080 resolution without touchscreen support. A fingerprint reader enables Windows Hello biometric sign-in for quick authentication. Two memory slots support up to 64GB total capacity for future upgrades while the single NVMe drive handles storage. Wireless 802.11 connectivity covers standard office and remote networks.

Questions about this item

How do I install more memory in the EliteBook 840 G7?

Remove the base cover, align the DDR4 module with one of the two slots, insert it at the correct angle, and press down until the retention clips snap into place — the step people miss is fully seating both clips before closing the cover.

What storage part will need replacement first?

The 256 GB NVMe drive can be swapped for a larger NVMe unit when capacity runs low or endurance limits are reached.

What thermal limit appears first during long workloads on the i5-10310U?

The four-core processor will hit its thermal ceiling and throttle clock speeds before the integrated graphics or memory become bottlenecks.
