EliteBook 840 G8 14-inch touch laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G8 is a 14.0-inch touchscreen laptop running Windows 11 Pro. It uses an Intel Core i7 11th Gen processor with a minimum speed of 2.80GHz, 16GB of memory and a 256GB SSD. Integrated Intel Iris Xe Graphics drive the 1920 x 1080 Full HD display.

Replaces older non-touch business notebooks

The jump is worth it when you need a responsive touchscreen and the speed of an 11th Gen Core i7 for multitasking. The 16GB memory and 256GB SSD handle typical office workloads without the delays of mechanical drives. Buyers who want more storage or a discrete graphics card should look elsewhere.

Practical limits of integrated graphics

Intel Iris Xe Graphics share system memory, so heavy 3D or video tasks will hit a ceiling. The two memory slots allow expansion, but the installed 16GB may already fill one or both slots. The 256GB SSD capacity can range from 240GB to 256GB, leaving limited room for large local files.

Questions about this item

What are the dimensions of the 14.0 inch screen so I can check if it fits in my bag?

The display measures 14.0 inches diagonally with a 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution.

How do I reinstall Windows 11 Pro if the system drive fails, and what step is often missed?

Use the hard-disk-based recovery image already installed on the 256 GB SSD; the step often missed is booting into the recovery environment before the operating system loads.

Can the 16 GB of memory be expanded later, and what is the limit?

Yes, the laptop has two memory slots supporting up to 16 GB total, so the installed 16 GB already reaches the maximum capacity.
