EliteBook 840 G8 touch laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G8 is a 14.0 inch Full HD touchscreen laptop running Windows 11 Pro. It targets professionals who need a portable device with pen or finger input for presentations and annotation. The Intel Core i7 11th Gen processor runs at a minimum 2.80GHz with 32GB of memory and a 512GB SSD. Integrated Intel Iris Xe Graphics drives the 1920 x 1080 display.

Windows 11 Pro recovery image and 32GB RAM

A hard-disk-based Windows 11 Pro recovery image lets the system be restored without external media. The 32GB of installed memory fills two slots, so no further expansion is possible without removing existing modules. The 512GB SSD may deliver between 480GB and 512GB of usable capacity depending on the exact drive supplied. No optical drive is fitted.

Integrated graphics and USB count

Intel Iris Xe Graphics shares system memory and suits office applications, video playback and light creative work; it is not intended for sustained 3D rendering or modern gaming workloads. The specification lists two USB ports, limiting simultaneous peripheral connections unless a hub or dock is added. Bluetooth and a webcam are included for wireless accessories and video calls.

Questions about this item

Can the 32 GB of memory be upgraded later, and how many slots does the 840 G8 have?

The laptop has two memory slots totaling 32 GB, so future upgrades depend on whether one or both slots are already populated.

What thermal or power limit appears first when the Core i7 11th Gen processor runs at its 2.80 GHz base speed for long periods?

Sustained loads will hit the processor’s 2.80 GHz base frequency and the integrated Iris Xe graphics power envelope before any other component becomes the bottleneck.

How loud or hot does the 14.0 inch FHD touchscreen model get during all-day use?

Under continuous operation the cooling system manages the Core i7 11th Gen and Iris Xe graphics, so surface temperatures and fan noise stay within typical business-laptop ranges.
