Business Touchscreen Laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G8 is a 14.0 inch Full HD touchscreen laptop built for professionals who need responsive pen and finger input alongside a fast 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1185G7 processor. It ships with 16GB DDR4 memory and a 512GB NVMe SSD running Windows 11 Pro. Two Thunderbolt 4 Type-C ports and a fingerprint reader complete the business-ready package.

Sustained Workload Behaviour

The quad-core i7-1185G7 runs at 3.0 GHz base and can reach 4.80 GHz turbo, while integrated Intel Xe Graphics handles presentations, streaming and light creative tasks without a discrete GPU. Active cooling keeps performance steady during long video calls, heavy multitasking and large spreadsheet work, so the system does not throttle to base clocks after a short burst.

Deciding Specification

The 14.0 inch 1920 x 1080 touchscreen is the feature that determines fit: buyers who need pen or multi-touch input for annotating documents, signing contracts or sketching on the move will benefit directly, while users who never use touch can save weight and cost with a non-touch model.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the i7-1185G7 get when the EliteBook 840 G8 runs all day?

The i7-1185G7 operates at a 3.0 GHz base frequency with a 4.80 GHz maximum turbo, and the chassis measures 17.9 mm thin, so sustained workloads are handled within a compact thermal envelope.

What cables or peripherals must I already own to use the two Thunderbolt 4 Type-C ports on this EliteBook 840 G8?

The Thunderbolt 4 ports accept any USB-C cable or device; for displays you need a USB-C to HDMI or DisplayPort adapter, and for legacy USB-A gear you need a USB-C to USB-A hub or cable.

Will my older USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 accessories work with the EliteBook 840 G8 alongside the new Thunderbolt 4 ports?

Yes, the laptop provides two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports natively, so existing USB-A mice, keyboards, and drives connect directly without adapters.
