HP EliteBook 840 G8 business laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G8 is a 14.0-inch business laptop powered by an 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1145G7 processor with four cores and eight threads. It ships with 16GB of DDR4 memory, a 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD, and Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. Integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics drive the 1920 x 1080 IPS display at 60Hz.

Professionals needing Thunderbolt 4 and Wi-Fi 6

This configuration suits mobile professionals who require two Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI output, Wi-Fi 6 AX201, Bluetooth 5.2, a fingerprint reader, and a backlit keyboard in a 3.2 lb silver chassis. Buyers who need a dedicated GPU, a touchscreen, or more than 16GB of memory should consider other models.

Two Thunderbolt 4 ports decide dock compatibility

The single specification that determines fit is the presence of two Thunderbolt 4 (Type-C) ports alongside two USB 3.1 Gen2 ports and HDMI. This port arrangement enables single-cable docking and dual 4K display support without adapters. Systems with only USB-C or fewer video outputs cannot match this connectivity.

Questions about this item

Will the 12.69 x 8.46 x 1 IN chassis fit in a standard 14-inch laptop sleeve?

The EliteBook 840 G8 measures 12.69 inches wide by 8.46 inches deep by 1 inch thick, so it fits most sleeves made for 14.0 inch laptops.

How do I install the 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD and what step is often missed?

The SSD comes already installed in the M.2 slot; if you replace it later, the step people forget is reinstalling the single retention screw before closing the base cover.

When will the 3-cell 53 Whr battery need replacement and what part matches?

Expect 2–3 years of daily use before capacity drops below 80%; replace with an HP 3-cell 53 Whr battery that matches the original voltage and connector.
