HP EliteBook 840 G8 laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G8 laptop is a 14.0-inch business notebook running Windows 10 Pro. It uses an Intel Core i7 11th Gen processor with four cores reaching 4.4 GHz turbo frequency. Integrated graphics drive the 1920 x 1080 Full HD non-touch display. A 960 GB SSD and 32 GB memory complete the main specification.

Suits mobile professionals needing Windows 10 Pro

This configuration suits professionals who need Windows 10 Pro on a light 14-inch chassis with 32 GB memory and a 960 GB SSD. Buyers who need a dedicated graphics card for 3D rendering or gaming should look elsewhere. Users requiring a touchscreen or a larger display diagonal will not find those features here.

960 GB SSD capacity

The single specification that decides fit is the 960 GB SSD capacity. It determines how much local data, applications and Windows 10 Pro updates can reside on the device without external storage. Verify that this volume meets the workload before purchase.

Questions about this item

What screw pattern secures the 14.0 inch chassis?

The EliteBook 840 G8 uses a standard laptop screw pattern; remove the bottom cover screws to access the 960GB SSD and 32GB memory slots.

Which step do owners skip when reinstalling Windows 10 Pro on the 1TB drive?

After the clean install, download the HP support pack for the 11th Gen Core i7-1185G7 so the integrated graphics, 802.11ac wireless and Bluetooth all function.

When will the integrated 4-core processor thermal paste need renewal?

Re-paste the i7-1185G7 cooler after roughly three to four years if sustained 4.4 GHz turbo loads cause higher idle temperatures.
