14-inch WUXGA touch display for hybrid work

The HP EliteBook 840 is a 14.0-inch business laptop with a WUXGA 1920 x 1200 IPS touchscreen rated at 300 nits and 45% NTSC. It runs Windows 11 Pro on an Intel Core Ultra 7 165H processor with 16 cores, 22 threads, and a 5.0 GHz turbo boost. Integrated Intel Graphics drive the display, while 16 GB of DDR5-5600 memory and a 512 GB drive handle workloads. The chassis uses at least 75-percent post-consumer recycled plastic in the bezel.

Suited for mobile professionals needing AI

This laptop targets teams that want on-device NPU performance for AI-enhanced productivity and video conferencing. The 5 MP IR camera, Poly Studio audio with dual amplifiers, and dual-array microphones support hybrid meetings. HP Wolf Security provides hardware-enforced protection. Buyers who need discrete graphics for heavy 3D rendering or a larger screen for multi-window timelines should look at other form factors.

Single SODIMM limits future memory upgrades

The 16 GB DDR5-5600 module occupies one slot in a single-channel configuration, so total system memory cannot be expanded beyond the factory fit. This constraint decides whether the device fits a multi-year refresh cycle or requires replacement when workloads grow. All other specifications are fixed at purchase.

Questions about this item

Will the 16 GB DDR5-5600 memory module need to be replaced or upgraded later?

The laptop ships with a single 16 GB DDR5-5600 module. If more capacity is required, an additional module can be installed in the second slot.

What limits sustained performance of the Intel Core Ultra 7 165H during long workloads?

The 56 Whr battery and integrated Intel Graphics share the thermal envelope, so prolonged heavy compute will throttle once the cooling solution reaches its capacity.

How loud and hot does the EliteBook 840 get when it runs all day?

Fan noise rises under continuous load, but the 0.45 in front profile and 3.1300 lb chassis keep surface temperatures comfortable for desk use.
