HP EliteBook 850 G2 laptop

The HP EliteBook 850 G2 is a 15.6-inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-5200U dual-core processor running at 2.20 GHz with a 2.70 GHz turbo frequency. It comes equipped with 16 GB of DDR3 memory and a new 128 GB 2.5-inch SATA SSD. The 1366 x 768 HD display is non-touch, and Intel HD Graphics 5500 handles visual output. The unit ships with no operating system installed.

No operating system included

Because no operating system is pre-installed, the buyer must acquire and install Windows or another OS separately before the laptop can be used for daily tasks. This also means no manufacturer recovery partition or bundled HP software is present on the new 128 GB SSD. The clean drive allows a fresh installation tailored to specific requirements without removing bloatware first.

Suits OS-savvy users needing a ready chassis

This configuration suits buyers who already hold a licence and want a silver 15.6-inch chassis with 16 GB RAM and a fresh 128 GB SSD. It does not suit anyone who needs a machine that boots to a desktop out of the box, requires more than 128 GB of internal storage, or expects a touchscreen or higher-resolution panel.

Questions about this item

Can the 16GB DDR3 memory be upgraded later?

The two memory slots are already filled to the 16 GB maximum, so no further RAM upgrade is possible.

What limits performance first during long workloads on the i5-5200U?

The dual-core processor reaches its 2.70 GHz turbo ceiling and thermal envelope before other components become a bottleneck.

How loud and hot does the EliteBook 850 G2 get when running all day?

The Intel HD Graphics 5500 and 15 W CPU keep heat modest; fan noise stays low during typical office tasks.
