15.6 inch FHD business laptop

The HP EliteBook 850 G3 is a 15.6 inch FHD laptop built for office work and mobility. It runs on an Intel Core i5-6300U dual-core processor with a base clock of 2.40 GHz and a turbo frequency of 3.00 GHz. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 handles the 1920 x 1080 display. The unit ships with 8GB DDR4 memory and a new 128GB 2.5 inch SATA SSD. No operating system is included.

Suited for users adding their own OS

This device suits buyers who want to install their own choice of Windows or Linux on a clean machine. It is not for anyone who needs a ready-to-use system with a pre-loaded licence. The 128GB drive capacity limits users who store large media libraries or multiple virtual machines. The dual-core CPU and integrated graphics will not meet the needs of buyers who require higher multi-thread performance or discrete GPU power.

128GB 2.5 inch SATA SSD

The storage is a new 128GB 2.5 inch SATA SSD, which determines boot speed and application load times. The laptop provides two memory slots and supports up to 32 GB of DDR4 RAM for future upgrades. The SSD form factor and interface are the key details for anyone planning to replace or add a drive.

Questions about this item

Can the 8GB DDR4 memory be upgraded later?

The laptop has two memory slots and supports up to 32 GB of DDR4, so you can add or replace modules to reach that limit.

What limits sustained performance first under heavy load?

The dual-core i5-6300U with Intel HD Graphics 520 will hit its thermal and power ceiling before the 128 GB SATA SSD becomes a bottleneck.

How loud and hot does the EliteBook 850 G3 get when running all day?

The 15.6-inch chassis uses a single fan to cool the 15 W processor; expect moderate fan noise and warm keyboard deck during continuous workloads.
