Business laptop for mobile professionals

The HP EliteBook 850 G5 delivers a quad-core Intel Core i7-8650U at 1.9 GHz with 16 GB DDR4 and a 1 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed. It targets users who need reliable x86 performance in a 15.6 inch chassis for office applications, video calls and light content creation.

Capacity and headroom

Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4 memory and a one-terabyte NVMe drive provide ample space for multitasking, large document sets and local project files. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 uses shared system memory, so sustained 3D workloads or heavy GPU compute will hit limits quickly. The 15 W processor sustains burst speeds well but throttles under prolonged all-core load.

Build, connectivity and daily use

A silver aluminium-alloy frame meets MIL-STD durability standards and resists flex during travel. One Thunderbolt 3 port, two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, HDMI and Gigabit Ethernet cover docking, peripheral and wired-network needs without dongles. The 1920 x 1080 non-touch display offers standard office brightness and viewing angles. A 720p webcam supports conferencing. Grade B condition means visible cosmetic blemishes such as scratches or shiny keycaps are present, although every unit passes full functional testing.

Questions about this item

Will the Intel Core i7-8650U and Thunderbolt 3 port work with my older USB 3.0 dock and monitors?

The laptop provides one Thunderbolt 3 port and two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports; both are backward compatible with USB 3.0 docks and monitors, so your existing accessories will connect and function normally.

How can I verify the 1 TB NVMe SSD and 16 GB DDR4 are recognised after first boot?

Open Settings > System > About to confirm 16 GB installed RAM, then open Task Manager > Performance > Disk and ensure the drive is listed as a 1 TB PCIe NVMe device.

Does the box include the 65 W USB-C charger and are any cables missing for the HDMI or RJ-45 ports?

The package contains the laptop, its battery and the USB-C power adapter; standard HDMI and Ethernet cables are not supplied and must be purchased separately if you do not already have them.
