Product identity

The Lenovo ThinkPad T480 is a 14-inch mainstream laptop built around an Intel Core i5-8250U processor running at 1.6 GHz with 16 GB of memory and a 512 GB solid-state drive. It ships with Windows 10 Pro and a non-touch Full HD display at 1920 by 1080 resolution. The chassis is black and includes a backlit keyboard for low-light typing.

Who it suits and who it does not

This machine fits professionals and students who need a portable Windows 10 device with ample RAM and fast SSD storage for office applications, web work and video calls. Buyers who require a touchscreen, discrete graphics for gaming or creative rendering, or a larger display should consider other options. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 handles everyday visuals but not heavy 3D workloads.

Deciding specification

The 16 GB memory capacity is the key figure that determines whether this T480 matches the workload; it supports smooth multitasking with multiple browser tabs, documents and communication tools open simultaneously. If the intended use demands more memory than 16 GB, this unit will not meet that requirement.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 512 GB M.2 SSD in the ThinkPad T480 and what step is often missed?

Remove the bottom cover, insert the 512 GB M.2 SSD at an angle into the slot, secure it with the screw, then reinstall the cover; the step often missed is fastening the retention screw before closing the case.

What maintenance or replacement will the 16 GB memory configuration need later?

The 16 GB memory is soldered and cannot be upgraded; future maintenance is limited to SSD replacement or battery service if runtime declines.

What limit appears first on the Intel HD Graphics 620 during sustained workloads?

The Intel HD Graphics 620 hits its thermal and power ceiling first, causing clock throttling that caps frame rates in extended sessions.
