Business laptop with 15.6-inch FHD screen

The HP EliteBook 850 G5 G6 is a 15.6-inch notebook built for office professionals and mobile workers who need a durable silver chassis. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor with integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620. The 1920 x 1080 non-touch display includes a numeric keypad for data-entry tasks.

Bundled software and accessories

Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed and an OEM AC adapter is included in the box. The system ships with 16 GB of DDR4 memory configured as 8 GB x 2 and a 256 GB SSD for the operating system and applications. Connectivity covers 2 x USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A, 1 x USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C with Thunderbolt, HDMI 1.4b, Gigabit Ethernet, combo audio jack, docking connector and optional smart-card or SIM slots.

Straightforward setup with few surprises

Power on, accept the Windows licence and the laptop is ready for domain join or local account creation. HP Sure Start and Sure Recover firmware tools run automatically to protect the BIOS and simplify OS restoration. The only common friction point is the single Type-C port which carries Thunderbolt and video, so users needing multiple external displays often add a dock.

Questions about this item

Can the 256 GB SSD be upgraded later?

The laptop uses an M.2 slot that accepts SATA or NVME drives up to 2 TB, so the 256 GB SSD can be replaced with a larger one.

What limits sustained performance first?

The 15 W quad-core i5-8350U and integrated UHD Graphics 620 share a single cooling assembly, so the processor thermal ceiling is reached before memory or storage bottlenecks appear.

How loud and hot does it get during an all-day workload?

Under continuous load the dual-fan system spins up audibly and the keyboard deck reaches warm temperatures, while the 45 W adapter supplies enough power for the 15 W CPU and charging simultaneously.
