Business laptop for mobile professionals

The HP EliteBook 850 G6 G5 is a 15.6 inch FHD notebook powered by an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor with integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620. It ships with Windows 10 Pro, 16 GB DDR4 memory in an 8 GB x 2 configuration and a 2 TB SSD. The silver aluminium chassis includes a numeric keypad and a front-facing webcam.

User-replaceable parts are limited

Memory and storage use standard DDR4 SO-DIMM and M.2 slots accessible after removing the base cover. The battery is internal and requires disassembly to swap. Common issues include stripped case screws, fragile display cable routing and BIOS whitelist restrictions that can block third-party Wi-Fi cards.

Verify your workflow matches the hardware

Confirm that integrated UHD 620 graphics meet your application needs and that the single HDMI 1.4b output supports your external display resolution. Check that two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port with Thunderbolt, Gigabit Ethernet and the combo audio jack cover your peripherals. Ensure Windows 10 Pro licensing is acceptable for your environment.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the Intel Core i5-8350U and 16 GB DDR4 are running correctly after first boot?

Open Task Manager’s Performance tab to confirm the quad-core processor and 16 GB memory are detected, then run the built-in HP PC Hardware Diagnostics from the startup menu for a full component check.

Which accessories are included and which must be purchased separately?

The box contains the laptop and an OEM AC adapter; Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed. No external mouse, carrying case or additional cables are supplied.

Should I choose the 2 TB SSD configuration or a smaller 512 GB drive for this EliteBook 850 G5 G6?

Select the 2 TB SSD if you store large media libraries or virtual machines locally; choose 512 GB if you rely mainly on cloud storage and want a lower upfront cost.
