HP EliteBook 850 G7 business laptop

This new HP EliteBook 850 G7 is a 15.6 inch business laptop with an Intel Core i5-10310U processor, 8 GB DDR4 memory and a 512 GB NVMe SSD. It runs Windows 11 Pro on a 1920 x 1080 IPS display. The chassis is silver and rated Grade C for cosmetic condition.

Suits mobile professionals.

This configuration suits mobile professionals who need a quad-core processor, Thunderbolt 3 ports and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity for office applications and video calls. Buyers who want more storage, a dedicated GPU, a touchscreen or a higher-grade cosmetic finish should look at other models.

8 GB DDR4 memory is the limiting spec

The single specification that decides fit is the 8 GB DDR4 memory, which is soldered and not upgradeable. If your workload regularly exceeds this capacity, this unit will bottleneck performance regardless of the fast NVMe storage or quad-core CPU.

Questions about this item

How loud and warm does the EliteBook 850 G7 get when the Intel Core i5-10310U runs at its 15 W TDP all day?

The quad-core i5-10310U is rated at 15 W, so the cooling system is built for that sustained power level; fan noise stays at office-friendly levels and the chassis remains comfortable to touch during typical business workloads.

Which cables or docks do I need to use the two USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports on this laptop?

Any Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C cable, Thunderbolt dock, or USB-C hub will work; the ports also carry DisplayPort video so a single cable can drive an external monitor while charging the laptop.

Will my older USB-A flash drives and HDMI monitor plug straight into the 850 G7?

Yes — the laptop keeps two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A sockets and a full-size HDMI port, so legacy peripherals and displays connect without adapters.
