HP EliteBook 850 G7 Business Laptop

The HP EliteBook 850 G7 is a 15.6 inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-10310U quad-core processor running at 1.7 GHz. It comes with 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 512 GB NVMe PCIe M.2 solid state drive. Windows 11 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed. The non-touch display uses an IPS panel with 1920 x 1080 resolution and LED backlighting. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics shares system memory for visual output.

Connectivity and Daily Use

Two USB 3.1 Type-C ports with Thunderbolt support handle docks, external displays and high-speed peripherals. Two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports add legacy connectivity, one of which supports charging. A full-size HDMI port connects directly to projectors or televisions. Wireless networking uses Intel AX201 Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5. A 1080p webcam and a combo audio jack complete the communication setup. The silver chassis shows cosmetic blemishes such as scratches or shiny keys consistent with Grade B condition.

Upgrade Context

This unit replaces an older business laptop that lacks Thunderbolt docking, Wi-Fi 6 or a fast NVMe boot drive. The quad-core processor and 16 GB of memory handle typical office workloads and multitasking without bottleneck. Buyers who need dedicated graphics, a touchscreen or a pristine cosmetic appearance should consider other models. The Grade B rating means the laptop is fully functional but visibly used, making it suited for cost-conscious deployments where aesthetics are secondary.

Questions about this item

What speed does the Thunderbolt 3 USB-C interface actually deliver on this EliteBook 850 G7?

The two USB 3.1 Type-C ports with Thunderbolt support handle data, video and charging through a single cable.

What physical clearance does the 15.6 inch chassis need for the HDMI and Thunderbolt ports?

The full-size HDMI port and both USB-C ports sit on the left and right edges, so allow a few centimetres behind the laptop for cables and docks.

How is the NVMe SSD installed and what step do people miss?

The 512 GB NVMe PCIe M.2 drive is factory-fitted; the common mistake is forgetting to initialise the drive in Disk Management after a clean Windows 11 Pro install.
