Tiny form-factor desktop for office work

The HP EliteDesk 705 G4 is a compact desktop built around an AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 2400GE processor with integrated Radeon RX Vega 11 graphics. It ships with 16GB of DDR4 memory and a 512GB SSD running Windows 11 Pro. The small chassis suits cramped desks and standard VESA mounts, making it a practical choice for general business tasks and home-office setups.

Replaces older tower PCs when space is tight

This unit upgrades from bulky legacy desktops that lack modern connectivity or SSD speed. The jump is worth it when you need a silent, low-profile machine that drives two DisplayPort monitors and handles everyday multitasking without a discrete graphics card. Buyers who need more storage bays, higher CPU core counts, or dedicated GPU performance should look elsewhere.

Simple setup with few pitfalls

Installation amounts to connecting power, two DisplayPort cables, the included USB keyboard and mouse, and optional wired Ethernet. The main issue is the tiny chassis: internal expansion is extremely limited, so memory or storage upgrades require careful disassembly and compatible low-profile parts. Ensure your monitor cables match the DisplayPort outputs before mounting.

Questions about this item

What clearance does the Tiny form-factor HP 705 G4 need for its front and rear USB 3.1 ports?

The front panel has two USB 3.1 ports and the rear panel has four USB 3.1 ports; leave at least a few centimetres in front and behind the chassis so cables do not bend sharply.

After placing the 705 G4 on the desk, what is the first connection step that is often overlooked?

Connect the included wireless keyboard and mouse receiver to any USB 3.1 port, then attach the display cable to one of the two DisplayPort outputs before powering on.

When should the 512 GB SSD be considered for replacement?

Plan a replacement if the drive reaches its wear limit or if SMART tools report reallocated sectors; the 16 GB DDR4 memory and AMD Radeon RX Vega 11 graphics do not wear out in normal use.
