Compact business desktop

The HP EliteDesk 800 G4 DM 65W is a mini form-factor desktop built around an Intel Core i5-8500 processor running at 3.00 GHz. It comes with 16GB of DDR4 memory and a 1TB SSD, providing space for up to 250,000 songs or 588,240 photos. Windows 11 Pro 64-Bit is pre-installed for immediate deployment in professional environments.

Thermals and power

The 65W processor rating keeps power draw modest during typical office workloads. Solid-state storage eliminates mechanical drive noise and reduces overall energy consumption compared to traditional hard drives. The compact chassis is designed for quiet operation in space-constrained workspaces.

Upgrade context

This system replaces older desktops that rely on spinning hard drives and lower memory capacities. The jump is worthwhile for users who need faster boot times, quicker application loading and silent operation. Buyers who require discrete graphics performance or expandability beyond the mini chassis should consider larger form factors.

Questions about this item

How is the SODIMM DDR4 memory installed in the HP EliteDesk 800 G4 DM, and what step do people often miss?

Remove the chassis cover, align the notch on the 16GB DDR4 module with the slot key, press firmly until the side clips click, then replace the cover before powering on.

What maintenance or replacement will the 1TB SSD need later?

The solid-state drive has no moving parts, so no mechanical maintenance is required; monitor SMART health attributes and replace the drive only if reallocated-sector counts rise.

What limit appears first on the Intel Core i5-8500 during sustained workloads in this 65W desktop mini?

The 65W power envelope caps turbo duration, so the processor drops toward its 3.00 GHz base frequency once the thermal solution saturates.
