Compact business desktop

The HP EliteDesk 800 G4 Mini PC is a 6.97 x 7 x 1.5 inch system built around an Intel Core i5-8600 6-core processor running at 3.10 GHz with a 4.3 GHz boost. It ships with 32GB DDR4 memory and a 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD, running Windows 11 Pro for office, education and light multitasking workloads.

Thermals and power

The 90W power supply feeds the CPU and integrated Intel UHD 630 graphics without a discrete card, keeping heat output modest in the 2.7 lb chassis. Fan noise stays low during typical document, browser and video tasks, and the small footprint allows placement behind a monitor or on a crowded desk.

Build and connectivity

The metal mini-tower frame uses tool-less access for memory and storage upgrades. Rear I/O includes 6 USB 3.1 Gen2 ports, 3 DisplayPort outputs, one USB 3.1 Type-C port and a headset jack, while a single RJ-45 jack provides wired networking. No Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, optical drive or webcam are included, so wireless peripherals and cameras require separate adapters.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 32GB DDR4 memory and what step is often missed?

The Mini PC uses SO-DIMM slots inside the chassis; the step people miss is seating both modules until the side clips click, otherwise the system will not post.

What maintenance will the 1TB NVMe SSD need later?

SSDs have no moving parts, so no mechanical maintenance is required; keep at least 10% free space and run Windows TRIM periodically to sustain write performance.

What limit appears first during sustained loads on the Intel UHD 630 graphics?

The 90W power supply and compact 1.5 IN thermal envelope cause CPU throttling before the integrated GPU hits its own ceiling.
